Green STEAM Scholarship 2024 Call-for-Application

We are now accepting applications for our annual scholarship program with a total value of $20,000.

High school seniors graduating from schools in local communities that host Eden’s community solar developments (see list) and pursuing a career in fields that benefit the environment are invited to apply.

Awards of $1,000-$4,000 are available for up to 20 students, depending on the quantity and quality of applications received. At least one student will be selected from each school. The application deadline is May 10th.

Eden’s Chief Development Officer Giovanni Maruca said: “Over the last five years, Eden is very pleased to have supported 28 students in the greater Capital Region with their environmental career ambitions through our scholarship program. As our projects in the area have grown in number, so has the size of the fund available, with  $20,000 now in the pot. We intend that this will  make a positive difference to the futures of many more young people and help benefit the US transition to a low-carbon economy.”

As in previous years, recipients will be selected based on academic record, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, and statement of goals and aspirations.

To be eligible, applicants must be a high school senior attending one of the host community schools, have a minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA, and be accepted into a 2 or 4-year college or university and enrolled in Green STEAM or related discipline. A letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or employer, and a 500-word statement of purpose regarding educational plans and professional aspirations in Green STEAM must be submitted with the application.

Eden’s Green STEAM Scholarship was established in 2019 as a component of its broader educational program. The Eden Education program encourages and supports students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) disciplines through the environmental lens. So far, Eden has awarded $38,000 to 28 seniors attending Argyle, Ballston Spa, Duanesburg, Fonda-Fultonville, Hoosic Valley, Hudson City, Ichabod Crane, Schodack, Troy, and Waterford-Halfmoon school districts majoring in a variety of Green STEAM subjects such as Environmental Design, Environmental Science, Marine Biology and Wildlife Conservation.
