2023 Green STEAM Scholarship recipients
This summer we awarded our 2023 Green STEAM Scholarship to nine local graduating High School Students, with a total value of $11,000.
The recipients are Joshua White of Ballston Spa High School, Abigail Nelson and Jacelyn Codi of Duanesburg High School, Benjamin Phillips, Ashlyn Butler, Elinor Slezak, and Jenna Downing of Fonda Fultonville High School, Jacob Mysliwiec of Hoosic Valley High School, and Xavier Pearsall of Maple Hill High School.
Students were chosen based on various factors including academic merit, demonstrated leadership in school, participation in community service, work experience, and statement of goals and aspirations.
For example, Xavier Pearsall of Schodack, NY, is attending Hudson Valley Community College where he is enrolled as an Environmental Science major. A lover of exploring the great outdoors, Xavier is excited to turn his awe of nature into a career in wildlife conservation.
In contrast, Jaclyn Codi of Fonda, NY, is attending the Rochester Institute of Technology to study Packaging Science. Jaclyn recognizes the importance of eco-friendly packaging for sustainability. From her studies, she hopes to “find the most effective way to transport products from start to finish” and “have peace of mind knowing that the package doesn’t have a major (negative)environmental impact.”
Eden’s Green STEAM Scholarship Program was established to support students' interests in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics in fields that benefit the environment, linking to our community solar projects in each town.
Giovanni Maruca, Chief Development Officer, Eden Renewables, said: “Well done to those students who won one of our 2023 Green STEAM scholarships. We hope you will go on to build successful careers in your different fields and contribute to a cleaner, greener future.”.”
Eden Renewables has 23 community solar farms in development, under construction, or operational in Upstate New York/Capital Region.
