Schaghticoke community solar project approved by Planning Board

We are excited to announce the approval of our proposed solar project in Schaghticoke, Herrington Solar. It will have a capacity of 7.5 MW which will generate enough clean power for about 1,225 homes, nearly half the homes in Schaghticoke. When it comes to carbon savings, this is comparable to planting 10,000 average-sized trees that can absorb approximately 310,000 pounds of CO2 each year (Source: EPA).

Construction is expected to begin next spring/summer, and priority subscriptions will be offered to Schaghticoke residents. The average annual electricity bill is about $1,320 in New York. If 1,225 households subscribe, the city would save $158,760 annually. Reserve your spot today.

Eden’s Chief Development Officer Giovanni Maruca said, “We want to thank Frank Alessandrini and the rest of the Schaghticoke Town Planning Board for adapting to virtual meetings during the pandemic, minimizing additional delays and other potential setbacks to the process.”

This is our seventh community solar farm approved in the Capital Region. The other six projects, located in Duanesburg, Town of Glen, and Schodack, are scheduled to break ground sometime next year subject to the pandemic. Three additional projects are currently undergoing the approval process in their host communities. For site specific details, please visit Solar Projects.
