In June, Eden kicked off our Solar Power Education program, welcoming 21 students from Maple Hill Jr/Sr and Averill Park High Schools to the proposed site of Elmbrook Community Solar Farm.

The Grade 12 students learned about the history of solar power and electricity from Giovanni Maruca, Eden’s Chief Development Officer. He also explained how community solar projects are funded in New York State and showed the group around the land where the solar panels will be installed and how they will connect to the grid. Later, the students carried out a survey of the diversity of plant life on the site – which will be preserved and enhanced after the solar farm is built.

Taking classrooms to our solar farms is a core part of Eden’s community ethos. Our holistic approach ensures that each and every person living or working near one of our community solar farms has the opportunity to benefit both directly and indirectly from the clean power we will be generating.
