Supporting the anti-racism movement
As the Black Lives Matter protests precipitated by the brutal murder of George Floyd continue to grow around the globe, Eden Renewables stands in solidarity with those fighting racism and discrimination in all its forms.
We are appalled, angered and distressed by the scenes we have witnessed, showing that structural and racial inequality continue to be the reprehensible reality across the US, UK and much of the rest of the world.
And we recognize that racism and economic inequality go hand-in-hand with and are exacerbated by the impacts of the climate emergency.
While climate change affects us all, it disproportionately affects people and communities of color, who are more likely to live in areas with high pollution, low housing standards and poor healthcare.
Tackling the climate and environmental crisis is about creating a fairer and more just society for everyone – and tackling systemic and institutional racism must be part of that journey.
As a company, we intend to play a part in creating such a society. We have always believed in putting communities first, and know that we must also work alongside other organizations such as SEIA (Solar Energy Industries Association) to boost diversity, equity and inclusion in our industry.
